Biography
Pallabi Bhowmick is a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Prof. Wendy Rogers at the Human Factors and Aging Lab in University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on using virtual reality to enhance cognitive and social engagement opportunities for older adults, examining its usability, efficacy, and acceptance among this demographic. Additionally, her work includes utilizing robots to support daily activities and social interaction, thereby promoting independent living for older adults. Her Doctoral research in Health Informatics at Indiana University Bloomington was dedicated to exploring the potential of technology in mitigating social isolation among older adults, while simultaneously delving into methods of combating ageism in technology design, and improving technology adoption. Pallabi holds an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from India, along with a MS degree in Informatics from Technical University of Munich, Germany.
