Kristen Webster, PhD is a Human Factors and Systems Engineer in the Department of Patient Safety, Regulatory, and Accreditation at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Kristen’s passion lies in improving systems that facilitate communication and shared mental models. She endeavors to advocate for user-centered design at the micro and macro levels. Human Factors and Systems Engineering uses interdisciplinary fields to optimize the interaction between people, systems, and environments to improve safety, usability, and performance. This requires a holistic approach to ensure that that the system and all it includes supports the person as the most valuable resource, making it easy for individuals to do the right thing easily. Being embedded in a hospital, my role is to make life as safe and easy as possible for patients and staff to receive a high quality of service.

In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving whenever she can, grooming her ceaselessly shedding husky, textile crafting, and poorly attempting to rock climb.
