Sami Durrani

Biography
Sami Durrani currently leads the connected product team at Eli Lilly and Company. In this role, he is responsible for Lilly’s Connected Care product portfolio, including Medical Mobile Apps, HCP portals, connected insulin delivery devices, and other integration solutions. Over his career, he has launched more than 25 products, spanning medical devices, healthcare, transportation systems, and manufacturing.
Previously, Sami served as Head of Human Factors Engineering at Eli Lilly and Company, Senior Manager of Human Factors at Fresenius Medical Care, and Managing HF Specialist at Emergo by UL. In these various roles, Sami led human factors and risk management activities supporting the development of devices ranging from drug delivery systems to surgical robots. He is an active member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), where he has held roles such as Internal Affairs Division Chair, PDTG Program Chair, and President of the New England Chapter. Sami previously served on the AAMI HFE subcommittee. Sami also currently teaches at George Mason University and Tufts University.
