Biography
Tara Cohen, PhD, is the Director of Surgical Safety and Human Factors Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She is a research scientist and associate professor in the department of surgery and is the co-chair of the simulation and human factors research committee at the medical center. In 2017, she earned her doctorate in human factors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dr. Cohen’s research interests involve exploring the interactions between humans and complex systems to improve safety, efficiency, and well-being in healthcare. She has received funding to study the impact of technology integration in surgery, learner performance in simulated settings, patient experience, and psychosocial safety for transgender care. She is the Secretary and a founding member of the Society for Surgical Ergonomics and Co-Chair for the International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Healthcare.
