Shanqing “SQ” Yin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and serves as the Human Factors Consultant for Singapore Health Services. As Singapore’s inaugural embedded Human Factors/Ergonomics (HF/E) specialist, Dr. Yin has led the integration of human factors science into the nation’s public healthcare system for over thirteen years. His pioneering efforts have transformed patient safety protocols across Singapore, particularly in the analysis and reporting of safety events to the Ministry of Health. Dr. Yin is frequently called upon to serve on independent review committees for serious patient safety incidents on a national level as well as on various World Health Organization patient safety initiatives. In his capacity as an academic leader, he oversees faculty development for clinical educators and actively contributes to advancing research in human factors, implementation science, and education.
