Junho Park
Biography
Dr. Junho Park is a tenure-track assistant professor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering, with joint appointments in the Department of Community Health Sciences and an adjunct role in Psychology.
His transdisciplinary research blends human factors engineering, cognitive science, and machine learning to improve human-AI interactions, particularly in healthcare.
Dr. Park has made notable contributions to the design and usability of prosthetic devices, including models predicting human performance, usability, and cognitive workload. His work on upper-limb prosthetics in virtual environments opened a new perspective on improving the usability of these devices. Dr. Park has been working passionately, with numerous publications and active membership in professional organizations like HFES, IISE, and IEEE. His research focuses on advancing human factors in health, securing national grants, and producing practical outcomes. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University, and has previously served as an assistant professor at Santa Clara University, where he directed the Human-AI System Optimization lab.
