Dr. A. Joy Rivera, PhD, is the Executive Director of Patient Safety and Patient Relations across Froedtert Health System. She is responsible for facilitating the transition of the patient safety program from a retrospective, reactive model to a prospective, proactive harm reducing program that promotes Human Factors, High Reliability, and Safety Science principles. Dr. Rivera also provides the enterprise direction for how Froedtert Health approaches patient safety. Dr. Rivera’s expertise is in human factors engineering and socio-technical systems theory as applied to the domain of healthcare to improve the quality of care, and increase patient and employee safety.
